Cold Blooded Friends

Zeus&Hercules
Originally uploaded by red clover.
Our two lizards.. Zeus, the yellowish one, is a Mali Uromastyx. Hercules, the gator-ish one, is a Sudan Plated. Both are desert lizards. Zeus is a vegetarian, though he will eat a cricket every now and then. Herc.. he's all about the bugs and rarely a fuzzy (not quite infant but not quite grown mouse) Am I a cool mom or what? lol

  • You are such a kick-ass mom.

If I ever got any lizards, my mom would probably have me sleeping outside...which is where the lizards would be.

  • Londoren: I was going to email you, but there was no email addr.

I'd recommend using Bird Seed as bedding since it is digestible by the Uromastyx. If your Sudan has been in the enclosure by itself for awhile I wouldn't put them together until you do a major overhaul of the enclosure to avoid territorial issues. Then they'd both be going in w/ no predetermined territory.

Also watch them very closely for the first several hours. Make sure you have at least 2 hide boxes, 3 would be better so they can get away from each other if they chose.

Mine get along very well, we've never had any prob w/ violence. But, of course, every animal is differnt.
