My (male) cousin came over tonight. We highlighted my newly blonde hair. While he was here I made coffee. As he went in to get his second cup he noticed the carton of half and half on the counter. "Where was the cream?", he asked.
In the 'fridge.. behind the MILK, I replied.
Then we laughed!

I am sure your cousin was just having a momentary bout of fever or possibly a minor case of chlorine poisoning or intoxication from peroxide fumes or....something. Otherwise he sounds like an intelligent, attractive, witty, and fun-loving guy.
